Sea moss gummies and kids: the straight answer

Every August, parents ask us the same question — can my child take these? We’d rather answer it plainly than sell around it. Here’s what our own directions say, everything that’s actually in the bottle in plain language, and who these gummies are really made for.

The honest answer

No — these gummies are made for adults.

Our own directions are specific and we’re not going to soften them: two gummies a day for healthy adults, and keep out of reach of children. That’s published on every gummies product we sell.

Here’s the reason, in plain terms. Sea moss and bladderwrack are both seaweeds, and seaweeds are naturally rich in iodine. Iodine is an essential mineral — but the amount considered appropriate for a child is far lower than for an adult, and it varies by age. Our Supplement Facts panel doesn’t carry a measured iodine figure per gummy, which means we cannot work out a children’s serving from anything we actually hold. We’re not willing to estimate one for your child.

So if you want sea moss to be part of your family’s routine, start with your pediatrician. They know your child’s age, weight and history, and they can tell you what’s appropriate. What we can do is show you exactly what’s in the bottle — every ingredient, every amount — so that conversation is a short one. It’s all below.

As a dietary supplement, healthy adults may take up to two (2) gummies per day, preferably between meals. From our directions — SeaMoss Gummies

Apple Cider Vinegar 2000 mg

Made with the “mother” — the cloudy strands you see settled in unfiltered vinegar. It’s a concentrated extract, which is how 100 mg delivers the equivalent of 2000 mg.

Burdock Root 1000 mg

A root vegetable, eaten as food in Caribbean and Asian kitchens for generations. Earthy, slightly sweet.

Bladderwrack 1000 mg

A brown seaweed, traditionally paired with sea moss. It is one of the most iodine-dense plants there is — and it’s the main reason this bottle is written for adults rather than children.

Sea Moss 1000 mg

Our own wildcrafted Caribbean sea moss, the same moss we sun-dry on racks at the shore for our gels. Naturally a source of iodine, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Zinc 5 mg · 45% DV

As zinc citrate. That 45% is measured against an adult daily value — a child’s requirement is lower, which is another reason the serving in our directions isn’t transferable.

Pectin, not gelatin Plant-based

The gummy itself is set with fruit pectin, so there’s no gelatin and nothing animal-derived. Sweetened with tapioca syrup and fruit.

The question right after “is it safe”

How much sugar is in them?

Three grams per serving, and we don’t dress that up. Here it is next to the rest of the panel, per two gummies.

Parents ask us these

Questions before you buy

Can my child take these gummies?

No — our directions are written for healthy adults, and say to keep the bottle out of reach of children. Sea moss and bladderwrack are both naturally rich in iodine, and an appropriate iodine amount for a child is much lower than for an adult and changes with age.

Our Supplement Facts panel carries no measured iodine figure per gummy, so a children’s serving can’t be calculated from what we hold. Rather than estimate, we’d rather you ask your pediatrician, who can weigh it against your child’s age and health.

Why don’t you just publish a children’s serving size?

Because we’d be guessing, and iodine isn’t something to guess about. A children’s serving needs a tested iodine amount per gummy, plus age bands set by someone qualified to set them. We don’t have the first, so we won’t invent the second.

If that changes — if we hold lab results showing iodine per gummy — we’ll publish the number here, whatever it says.

What if my child gets into the bottle?

Treat it as you would any supplement in the house: keep the bottle up and out of reach, and the lid on. If your child takes some and you’re at all concerned, call your pediatrician or your local poison-control line — they can advise properly based on how much and your child’s age. We’re not able to give medical advice by email.

How much sugar do they contain?

Three grams of total sugars per two-gummy serving, all of it added sugars — 6% of an adult daily value. That comes from tapioca syrup and fruit. Fifteen calories a serving.

Are the gummies as good as the gel?

They’re different things doing different jobs, and it’s worth being straight about it. The gel is our whole-food product: wildcrafted sea moss blended with water and real fruit, taken two tablespoons a day, kept in the fridge. A 16 oz jar lasts about two weeks.

The gummies are a supplement format with a defined blend — sea moss alongside bladderwrack, burdock root, apple cider vinegar and zinc — built to be taken anywhere, with no fridge and no spoon. Choose the gel if you want sea moss as a food. Choose the gummies if the honest alternative is skipping it entirely on a busy morning.

Are they vegan? Any gelatin?

No gelatin — they’re set with fruit pectin, so nothing animal-derived. The full “other ingredients” list is purified water, tapioca syrup, pectin, fruit extract, strawberry juice, coconut oil and carnauba wax.

Do they need refrigeration?

No. Keep the bottle sealed at room temperature, out of direct sun. That’s the practical difference from the gel, which lives in the fridge.

Can I take them while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Our directions say not intended for use during pregnancy or lactation. If you’re pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a thyroid condition, speak to your healthcare professional before starting — iodine matters in all of those situations.

Straight answers, then the sea moss

We’d rather tell a parent “not for your child” and keep their trust than make a sale we can’t stand behind. If the gummies are for you, they’re ready when your morning isn’t.
