Two of the CGI-Green family sorting wildcrafted Caribbean sea moss by hand at the shore in St. Lucia

Wildcrafted Caribbean Sea Moss: Where Ours Actually Comes From

Quick answer: CGI-Green's wildcrafted Caribbean sea moss is hand-harvested from the coastal waters of St. Lucia, rinsed ashore with fresh lime and clean water, then sun-dried on open racks before it ever becomes a gel. It grows wild in the ocean, not in man-made pools, and it is prepared the way our family has prepared it for generations.

Where Our Wildcrafted Caribbean Sea Moss Is Harvested

It grows on its own on the sea floor off St. Lucia, in moving ocean water, and it is gathered by hand, a handful at a time. No ropes between poles, no pens, nothing added to the water to make it grow faster.

That is what wildcrafted means: taken from where it already grows, at the pace the ocean sets. Wild sea moss cannot be rushed, and some weeks the season gives less. More in our honest breakdown of wildcrafted vs pool-grown sea moss.

How Our Wildcrafted Caribbean Sea Moss Is Cleaned and Sun-Dried

Ashore, it is rinsed in clean water, then fresh lime is squeezed by hand straight over the moss to lift the salt and the strong sea smell. Every Caribbean kitchen knows this step.

Then it goes onto open wooden racks in the sun. Over a few days it lightens from deep red-purple to pale gold. Sun-drying is slow and depends on the weather, which is why it is the first step skipped at scale. We have kept it because it was handed down to us.

What comes off the racks is sea moss and nothing else, naturally a source of iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium, fiber and trace minerals.

From Island Water to Your Kitchen

The same families harvest, rinse, rack and hand-sort this moss season after season, pulling anything that does not belong. That is why we say we don't tell you it's organic, we show you.

It reaches you three ways: wildcrafted Dried Sea Moss to blend into gel at home, unflavored sea moss gel for soup, tea or smoothies, or fruit-infused sea moss gels in seven flavors. Same sea moss, same water. Our routine at home is about 2 tablespoons of gel a day, stirred into whatever you are already having.
